The latest game in the Pokémon series, Pokémon Legends: Arceus, introduces us to a whole new region of not only new Pokémon, but also new people.
As you venture into the Hisui region in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, there are six distinct locations; Jubilife Village, Obsidian Fieldlands, Crimson Mirelands, Cobalt Coastlands, Coronet Highlands and Alabaster Icelands. Each of these locations will introduce you to a series of brand new Pokémon NPCs. So let’s find out all the names of the protagonists in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
All characters in Pokémon Legends: Arceus
The Galaxy Expedition Team
Team Galaxy is the core group of protagonists in Pokémon Legends: Arceus who direct the game’s story, whose role is to research not only the Hisui region, but also the Pokémon residing there. You will join the team at the start of your adventure in Hisui, taking on the challenge of discovering the wonders of Noble Pokémon.
Rei and Akari
Rei or Akari will be your companions on your journey through the Hisui region. The character that appears in your game depends on the gender chosen for your player character. If you choose to play as the female variant, Rei will accompany you on your adventure. Choose the male character and Akari will accompany you as a friend.
Professor Laventon
Professor Laventon is the Professor character in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Like Professor Oak, Sycamore, Kukui, and everyone else before him, you’ll be introduced to him near the start of the game, when he gives you your choice of starter Pokémon.
Commander Kamado
Kamado is the leader of the Galaxy team you are part of at the start of your Hisuian adventure. Pokémon Legends: Arceus confirms that Kamado is an ancestor of Professor Rowan from the Sinnoh region.
Cylene
Cyllene is a captain of Team Galaxy, leading Survey Corp. Although Kamado is the only character with a confirmed descendant in Sinnoh, there is speculation that Cyllene is related to Team Galactic leader Cyrus due to their unmistakable resemblance. As such, it’s also widely believed that there’s a connection between Team Galaxy and Team Galactic, Sinnoh’s villainous team of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl antagonists.
Guardians
We were first introduced to the Guardians, a group of individuals tasked with keeping watch over the region’s Noble Pokémon, in one of the first trailers for Pokémon Legends: Arceus. These new faces will be part of your journey as you investigate and battle these new Noble Pokémon.
Liana
Lian is a young Guardian who takes care of the new evolution Hisuian Scyther Kleavor, the first Noble and Major Boss Pokémon you will face in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. He is a member of the Pearl clan, led by Irida.
May
Mai and her partner Munchlax are tasked with keeping an eye on the Pokémon Wyrdeer, a new evolutionary form exclusive to Stantler’s Hisuian. Like Cyllene, Mai also bears an incredible resemblance to a well-known Sinnoh NPC, Marley (whose name, by the way, is Mai in Japanese). Again, no relationship is confirmed yet, but their resemblance in name and appearance is unlikely to be a coincidence, especially given a cryptic hint at pokemon.com which states “there are other people in this game who could also be ancestors of familiar faces you may know”.
Is possible
Guardian Iscan takes care of another rideable Pokemon, Hisuian Basculegion, the Hisuian evolution of Basculin. According to his official history, Iscan is easily scared, so he’s not a fan of Ghost-type Pokémon.
Arezu
Arezu is the caretaker in charge of taking care of a special Hisuian Lilligant. According to pokemon.com, Arezu is an independent young woman, often trying to solve problems on her own.
The Diamond and Pearl Clans
Alongside Team Galaxy are two other teams living in Hisui, the Diamond Clan and the Pearl Clan. These two clans both admire special Noble Pokémon, or – as they call them – Lords and Ladies, but are often at odds with each other due to the opposing opinions of their leaders.
Adaman, leader of the Diamond Clan
Adaman leads the Diamond Clan with his partner Leafeon at his side. He is a frantic individual, rushing into things before he thinks – a behavior that causes friction between him and the leader of the Pearl Clan, Irida.
Irida, Chief of the Pearl Clan
Irida, on the other hand, is a cautious young woman and does not trust people lightly. However, as you help calm Hisui’s Noble Pokemon, Irida – and her partner Glaceon – will eventually trust you.
Ginkgo Guild
Finally, the Ginkgo Guild is a group of traveling vendors who set up shop and sell their unusual finds all over Hisui.
ginter
Ginter leads the Gingko guild and maintains the guild with his “strong leadership”. He has a particular interest in the unusual, which explains some of the items you can buy from him.
Vol
Much like his chef Ginter, Volo has a strong sense of curiosity and also enjoys unearthing strange finds. He also spends most of his time wandering the regions of Hisui, and as such, you may find yourself bumping into him often. There’s speculation that her appearance is strikingly similar to Cynthia of Sinnoh, so there could be another family significance to uncover here.
