Bob Weir and Wolf Bros. kicked off a two-night wrap-up tour in Denver Mission Ballroom Friday night. With the help of The Wolf PackThreshold, Jay Lane, Jeff Chimenti, Don wasand Barry Sless played a show loaded with Bob Dylan blankets, Grateful Dead classics including the “Terrapin Station” suite, and a cover of the band recently debuted arrangement of “Stealin'” by Memphis Jug Band.

Weir and company kicked things off with “Truckin’,” followed by Dead hits “Black-Throated Wind,” “Brown-Eyed Women,” and Marty Robbns“The Paso”. The western ballad marked the start of a lyrically poetic streak alternating between Bob Dylan and The Dead: “Queen Jane Approx” came out on top ahead of “Lazy River Road,” which sank into the band’s first “Maggie’s Farm” since March 2020, and finally “Cassidy” closed the set.

Weir, Was and Lane opened the second set with a trio rendition of “The Winners”, a song with lyrics from a poem by Rudyard Kipling first featured on Weir’s 1998 live solo album with Rob Wasserman. Next is “Stealin'” by the Memphis Jug Band, which the group recently debuted in San Diego, followed by a psychedelic space mission to “Dark Star” and a dance to “Shakedown Street.” A cosmic contemplation of “The Wheel” then preceded a trip to the “Terrapin Station” suite, another the recent beginnings of Wolf Bros. “Morning Dew” brought things back to center, closing the second set before the band brought it back “Around and Around” with a rocking chuck berry cover to close the show.
