After years of stealing supporting roles, including her Emmy-nominated performance as “Pornstache” in the Orange is the new black cast, it looks like Pablo Schreiber is finally achieving the stardom he truly deserves. Years after her starring role in den of thieves – an instant action movie classic of 2018 – he would, arguably, land most of his career so far in the Halo portrayed as Master Chief in Paramount+’s series adaptation of the hit video game franchise. That being said, a role in one of the upcoming Marvel movies is one way for him to get bigger at this point.
Although he’s worked with plenty of veteran comic book adaptations throughout his impressive career so far – like former Captain America actor Chris Evans in Defend Jacob, and his half-brother, Liev Schreiber (Sabretooth in 2008 X-Men Origins: Wolverine), in The Manchu Candidate – the actor still hasn’t starred in his own superhero movies (or TV shows). However, he’s been the subject of rumors suggesting he could be next to play a certain iconic character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but I’ll get to that soon enough. Instead, I’d like to start our selection of Marvel characters for Pablo Schreiber to portray with one that somewhat reminds me of his Halo character.
Clay Main Quarter
There is not a fiercer soldier in the Halo universe than Master Chief, to whom Pablo Schreiber brings a sense of humanity unparalleled in the TV show. A Marvel character with similar attributes is Clay Quartermain – a former United States Air Force pilot who would go on to many adventures of a strange and dangerous variety as one of the most skilled agents (and mostly arrogant) of SHIELD.
However, unlike Master Chief, the agent has limited experience in space or fighting aliens, which I think is one more reason why Schreiber should be considered for the role. Instead of aliens, the actor would fight paranormal entities as Quartermain, who eventually led a SHIELD unit made up of classic horror characters known as the Howling Commandos, who totally needs his own movie or show. MCU television at some point.
Before moving into space as Master Chief on HaloPablo Schreiber yearned to leave Earth one day in Neil Armstrong’s 2018 biopic, first man, as one of the most famous astronauts in history: Jim Lovell. That’s actually just one of the reasons why I would consider him one of the most famous astronauts in comic book history – Ben Grimm, better known as The Thing – in the next The Fantastic Four restart from Marvel Studios.
In addition to his astronaut acting background, I think Schreiber, who is praised for his ability to authentically portray inner vulnerability despite his harsh exterior, would do a stellar job portraying The Thing’s inner vulnerability despite his exterior (literally ) hard. To do this, I would actually recommend going the Michael Chiklis method using prosthetics instead of performance capture – I thought either would be a new experience for the actor.
The movie that would finally convince the world that Pablo Schreiber was an action star was 2018 den of thieves, in which he brilliantly opposed Gerard Butler as the alpha dog in the titular den. If he was ever interested in playing a character of a similar nature but with less violent means and more unique power, the solution may lie in another highly anticipated reboot from Marvel Studios.
Gambit is a Cajun card shark and mutant with bio-kinetic abilities whose expert skills in the art of theft have earned him a place in the New Orleans chapter of a secret criminal society known as the Thieves Guild, of which he would also become the leader. Schreiber’s close resemblance to the x-men The character is another reason he would be fit to bring him back to the big screen after he was previously played by Taylor Kitsch in X-Men: Wolverine and almost played by Channing Tatum in his own solo movie.
Speaking of X-Men: Wolverine, I mentioned earlier how Pablo Schreiber’s Emmy-nominated half-brother Liev Schreiber also starred in this 2008 prequel as Sabretooth, who is at least the titular character’s older half-brother. Hugh Jackman in the canon of this film. Well, wouldn’t it be fun if the first Ray Donovan star has taken over the role whenever Marvel Studios officially restarts the x-men movies but, this time, they cast the actor’s real half-brother to play his sibling?
Even that idea seems a bit over the top (let alone sacrilegious to some fans). I’m really bringing up the idea of Schreiber taking over the role of Wolverine because it wouldn’t be the first time someone did it, as he’s one of the many actors who were rumored to be reviving the character in the MCU. While a recent interview with the actor for QG confirm that the rumors were still just rumors after all hopefully there might be a chance that they will come true one day as schreiber also bears a striking resemblance to the ageless adamantium claw mutant .
You know, if this crazy idea of having Pablo and Liev Schreiber appear in a x-men movie together as Wolverine and Sabretooth actually happened, it would be the second time the half-siblings have appeared together in a movie. The first time (as mentioned earlier) was in director Jonathan Demme’s 2004 remake of The Manchu Candidate, where the two siblings play soldiers who fall prey to a mind control plot. However, since the character of Pablo suffered a particularly devastating fate as a result of the brainwashing experience, I think he deserves to play a character on the opposite end of that spectrum.
The solution to this, again, lies in the Marvel Universe in the form of Knull, who indeed possesses the ability to control the minds of others. Of course, this barely scratches the surface of what this being of great power and, in particular, great evil is capable of – such as complete immunity to death, shapeshifting flight, and the ability to create life. . Schreiber has played a few unlikable dudes – like “Pornstache” – but none pose quite as much of a threat as this comic book villain who could be the greatest villain the MCU has ever seen if brought in.
On second thought, if Pablo Schreiber would like to make his comic book movie debut as such a dark character, he might also consider auditioning for some upcoming DC movies.
